No previous clay experience is needed. The goal isn’t to master every hand-building technique—it’s to leave feeling comfortable enough with clay to keep exploring.

Dates of Classes:

Oct 8th : 6pm-8:30pm, Week 1 — Getting to Know Clay
We’ll start with the basics: how clay behaves, how to handle and compress it, and how to successfully join pieces together. We’ll explore pinch and coil building through demonstrations before opening up the studio to experiment, play, and begin making.

Oct 15th : 6pm - 8:30pm, Week 2 — Building with Slabs
We’ll introduce slab building, including rolling consistent slabs, working with soft and firmer clay, using templates, creating strong seams, and adding handles, feet, or other attachments. From there, you’ll have guided studio time to continue an existing piece or begin something new.

Oct 22nd: 6pm-8:30pm, Week 3 — Bringing It Together
With the fundamental building techniques under your belt, this week shifts toward Guided Open Studio. Bring an idea, continue something you’ve started, or arrive without a plan. We’ll work together to figure out construction, troubleshoot, and explore finishing details and surface.

Oct 29th, One-Week Break — Drying + Firing NO CLASS
Your work stays with us to fully dry and receive its first kiln firing.

Nov 5th, 6pm-8:30pm, Week 4 — Glaze Return
Come back to finish your work. We’ll introduce the basics of glazing and surface, including how glaze behaves, where and how to apply it, and what to consider when choosing finishes. You’ll glaze your pieces and leave them with us for their final firing.

No previous clay experience is needed. The goal isn’t to master every hand-building technique—it’s to leave feeling comfortable enough with clay to keep exploring, including joining us for Guided Open Studio.

What to expect:
• Studio orientation on the first day
• Each class includes a demo + guided instruction, with time for independent making
• 4 lbs of clay included (additional clay available for purchase)
• Curated selection of glazes
• Bisque + glaze firings included
• Basic hand-building tools + shared materials
• Dedicated shelf for your work
• Calm, intentionally held studio environment

  • Students will glaze their work during the final class.
Finished pieces will be ready for pickup in 4–5 weeks.

What’s not included:
• Clean-up of your personal tools or workspace
• Large-scale firings (projects over 9” x 10”)
• Wheel use — this is a hand-building focused studio
